EACs: What and Why?

Employer Advisory Councils (EACs) are a cross section of local employers volunteers who join with the California Employment Development Department (EDD) staff to assist the employer community to do business more effectively and efficiently. This partnership's commitment to both the employer and the worker is to:

• Improve EDD services
• Increase cooperation and communication between EDD and the private sector
• Increase employer knowledge of EDD programs and services.

Benefits of Membership:

• Stay current with changes in employment law through presentations by expert speakers at general membership meetings.
• Receive assistance on a wide variety of employer/employee relationship topics through access to a management hotline.
• Network and share ideas with other employers.
• Use the group as a sounding board for proposed and on-going EDD policies, programs and procedures.
• Design, implement and participate in special community activities such as: job fairs, career days and job search workshops.
• Attend seminars which provide a vehicle for discussion of mutual problems and the presentation of information of interest to employers e.g.: placement and other services available through Job Service, unemployment insurance.

Why the CEAC?

In 1980, the California Employer Advisory Council, (CEAC) to EDD was formed. This statewide council is composed of representatives from the Employer Advisory Councils (EACs). The CEAC:

• Provides links between employers, EACs, and the Employment Development Department (EDD).
• Identifies problems affecting the Job Service that have statewide or national implications.
• Recommends changes in State and federal laws, regulations. Policies or procedures.
• Proposes or reviews legislation and makes recommendations to State or federal legislators and administrators.
• Provides services and assistance to 48 local EACs.

Employers from businesses of every size, especially those who are:

• Business Owners
• Corporate Managers
• Human Resources Managers
• Personnel Managers
• Office Managers
• CPAs, CFOs, and Treasurers

How To Join

By joining your local Employer Advisory Council (EAC), you automatically become a member of the California Employer Advisory Council (CEAC). If you are interested in becoming a member, click here to fill out your contact information. You will be contacted within 10-12 working days regarding your interest in becoming a member.
