The Yuba, Sutter, & Colusa counties EAC was created to provide local employers with an opportunity to interact with the Employment Development Department and other government agencies pertaining to employer related issues. It was also established to provide an avenue of communications between employers and government agencies that deal with employment related subjects. Managers and employers are provided an opportunity to express their views and to obtain answers to their questions and problems. Personnel Staffing Agencies are becoming an increasingly important part of our EAC - bringing a new resource to the "Welfare-to-Work" programs and the reduction of the number of unemployed, and Social Services dependent people.
The local EAC executive board meets once a month at various business locations to address business related matters and to review annual program plans and local employer issues. Local employers are encouraged to attend the board meetings. To obtain the date, time, and location of our EAC meeting please call Doug Gray @ 671-3950 or Bill Padgett @ 749-4889.
Our EAC Chapter held its 9th Annual Veterans Employer Award Luncheon in May 2003. Mr. Jeremiah P. Flynn, Manager of Veterans Services Program, EDD presented the award to a local employer, Packinging Specialist Inc. Thirty-six (36) percent of their employees are veterans. PSI is an outstanding example of a small business that supports our veterans.
This EAC has established a local connection with the Yuba/Sutter Chamber of Commerce and the Colusa Chamber of Commerce, whereby, each Chamber member is also a member of the EAC.
The EAC schedules a minimum of two (2) seminars each year - with local employers to address those issues of primary concern. Special workshops are scheduled during the year, in addition to seminars to address any special area that can be covered in a short period of one or two hours.
Each member is also entitled to the free Hot Line service. Call 671-3950 to receive advice pertaining to the EMPLOYMENT laws and issues, or to be referred to the appropriate agency to obtain desired information and guidance.
