Employer Advisory Council meets November 9 in Yuba City
Charles Altekruse of Enterprise Rancheria is featured speaker
The Employer Advisory Council (EAC) of Yuba/Sutter/Colusa Counties will meet at noon on Tuesday, November 9, at Marcello's Italian Restaurant on Bridge Street in Yuba City. The featured speaker is Charles Altekruse of Enterprise Rancheria, who will be providing an updated on the progress of the casino which will be located in Yuba County.
The EAC is an association of businesses in the three county area who meet monthly to join forces with other employers across the State who want to network with others, find ways to expand their businesses, and have a voice in shaping employment and training programs in the community. In partnership with the state Employment Development Department (EDD), the EAC offers quarterly business workshops and seminars to members and non-members in the area.

Disabilties Awareness and Communication Workshop
The Employer Advisory Council (EAC) of Yuba, Sutter and Colusa counties will sponsor a workshop on Friday, October 22, at The Plaza Room at Hillcrest Shopping Center, 210 Julie Drive, Yuba City. Businesses and individuals are invited to attend from the five county area of Yuba, Sutter, Colusa, Butte and Glen counties.
The half day workshop begins at 7:30 a.m. with check in and breakfast. Presenters will begin at 8:00 a.m. Guest speakers are Shayn Anderson, author and founder of Diversity Inclusion and Sue Ann Van Dermyden, founder of Van Dermyden Law Corporation. Topics include "Disabilities in the Workplace: The Business Advantage" presented by Mr. Anderson and "The Craft of Communication and Conflict Resolution, Transforming Good Managers into Excellent Leaders" presented by Ms. Dermyden.
Tickets are $50, $45 for members of EAC. All community people are welcome to attend. Ticket price includes buffet breakfast and seminar materials. For reservations call Cheryl Peacock 530/671-3950 or email before October 19. Day of event fee is $75.
Outstanding EAC chairperson Nominee
As the Chairperson for the Yuba/Sutter/Colusa Employer Advisory Council, Christi Dutcher has positioned herself as a strong leader in the community. She works hand-in-hand with the Yuba/Sutter Chamber of Commerce to ensure all employers in the communities are kept informed on issues of concern to businesses and to inform them of training programs that maybe become available. Under her leadership she has nourished this EAC's partnership with EDD, and the Yuba, Sutter, Colusa One Stops. Christi's goal, as the EAC chairperson, has been to be responsive to community needs by utilizing community planning and economic development resources and skills to promote economic opportunity, self sufficiency, and community revitalizations throughout our counties.
Christi is a leader who faces the challenges inherent in the leadership of an Employer Advisory Council. She thinks differently about serving the customer and building a unique organization while retaining and inspiring other EAC members. Each and every monthly meeting sets the stage for new innovative programs to serve the community. This commitment extends out to communities, such as Butte and Nevada counties, always insuring businesses in the counties/communities surrounding us are kept aware of the training programs available through the Yuba/Sutter/Colusa EAC.
Christi's continued commitment to long term economic development is evidenced by this EAC's partnerships with local organizations that encourage business expansion, retention, and solicitation. This EAC provides technical and/or financial assistance to these organizations, Central Valley Homeless Veterans Assistance Program (CVHVAP), FREED Independent Living Center, Regional Career Center, Yuba College, Colusa Career Center, Beale AFB, Caltrans, Yuba and Sutter Cal Works, Career Training and Education Center, California Department of Rehabilitation, and EDD, in the promotions and facilitations of their activities and programs.
Employment of veterans has always been a concern of this EAC. This EAC is dedicated to recognizing employers that advocated and hire veterans. This EAC is always part of the selection process of finding employers who are strong veteran advocates.
Numerous events, programs and activities are supported and /or organized by the Yuba/Sutter/Colusa Employer Advisory Council for the promotion of economic development of these communities. These events happen under the leadership of Christi.

Outstanding Veterans Committee Nominee
Community leadership, enthusiasm, and creativity identify the Yuba/Sutter/Colusa Veterans Committee's overall veterans program. The ability to meet identified needs of the disabled and non disabled veteran community in the Yuba, Sutter and Colusa counties with a creative flairs the veterans Committee's signature.
The veterans Committee's veteran program has been the hallmark of excellence in the local communities. The EAC Veterans Committee is committed to its goals as they relate to the veteran community. The committee has demonstrated commitment to the concerns of veterans and it's committed to the development of the new ventures in their support of disabled and non-disabled veterans. There is no question that the Yuba/Sutter/Colusa EAC Veterans Committee has been truly committed to veterans over the past year.
The outstanding level of commitment is evidenced by the EAC Veteran's Committee's community partnerships, public relations, community activities, veterans stand down, the Veterans Day Parade, homeless programs, and its involvement with local employer activities. This commitment enhances the services this organization can provide to the disable and non disabled veterans. The EAC Veterans Committee has worked with the Central Valley Homeless Veterans Assistance Program and the Stand down to organize under a one stop concept, to provide homeless veterans supportive services i.e., housing, food, training, employment (on a one-on-one basis), clothing, and supplies year round. We have established a "Stand down Store" providing stand down services to homeless veterans in three counties.
The veterans committee has built key partnerships with partner agencies and employers that serve the veteran community including; the Employment Development Department, the Regional Career Center, CTEC, the Colusa One Stop Center, Yuba/Sutter Chamber of Commerce, the Central Valley Homeless Veterans Program (CVHVCP), the Stand Down Committee, the Memorial Committee, Yuba College, Disabled American Veterans Chapter Nine, and Beale AFB.
The Yuba/Sutter/Colusa EAC Veterans Committee is a veteran advocate and leader in community involvement and programs to enhance opportunities for veterans, disabled veterans, and homeless veterans.
