Service To The Community

The Solano/Napa EAC distributes funds to community or public organizations that assist individuals in finding or preparing for jobs. In the last few years, we have focused on programs for youth:

In November 2006 the EAC donated $2500 to the Napa County Office of Education's Workplace Learning Academy. This program serves students from the Juvenile Court System and the Community Schools. It is designed to provide employable construction skills that students can use upon graduation from high school.

Napa Workforce Investment Board – 2006, $3000 to support the development of a comprehensive youth services system centered on employment and the Napa Youth Council.

  • Workforce Investment Board of Solano County – 2006, $3000 to provide additional services to youth.
  • Workforce Investment Board of Solano County – 2005, $4000 to develop tools for outreach to Out-of School Youth and High school drop-outs.
  • Napa Valley Workforce Investment Board – 2005, $4000 to improve and expand services to adult and youth jobseekers. The funds will be used to cover the cost of purchasing audio/visual equipment and materials used for the purpose of training and improving interview skills in the job search/job club workshops.
  • Workforce Investment Board of Solano County (WIBSC) - $3000 to assist with development and implementation of a marketing campaign to inform Out-of-School Youth and High School Drop-outs, ages 15-21, of the Solano Employment Connection and WIBSC employment and training resources.
  • Napa Valley Workforce Investment Board - $3000 to support the cost of enrolling members of their staff in a train-the-trainer program to be certified to train the customer service workshops as well as materials used to provide customer service training for 20 youth.
  • Workforce Investment Board of Solano County - $7500 to enhance one-stop services for youth and support summer jobs initiatives for youth.
  • Napa County Youth Networks - $6000 for programs preparing youth for jobs
  • Land Trust of Napa County Connolly Ranch Agricultural & Environmental Education Center - $2000 to support a Farm Coordinator position responsible for developing and implementing vocational opportunities for high school students.

The Solano/Napa EAC asks organizations for proposals indicating how they plan to use the funding and request feedback on the outcomes.
