Flash Feedback
April 12, 2008
What is it?
The original mission of the CEAC and EACs included two main objectives: acting in an advisory capacity to our EDD partners by giving input and feedback on existing and potential EDD programs, and providing education to employers on employment-related issues. Over time, the educational mandate of the organization has eclipsed the advisory function. Flash Feedback is a new feature of the CEAC website that is designed to implement and enhance our advisory mandate. The idea is to create a network of employers to whom we can periodically go to get feedback on current or proposed programs or legislation, specifically those having to do with the workforce development system and employment law.
How will it work?
Occasionally—but not too often, because we know you’re busy!—we will send an email out to employers who have signed up. The email will have either a simple question (preferably with a yes/no response, with space for supplementary comments), or a link to a short survey which will allow you to provide feedback anonymously. The questions may be about CEAC programs, EDD programs, local or state WIB initiatives, or possibly even proposed employment legislation. We will request that you provide your input back to us within 24 hours.
Why do it this way?
We have found that sending an email out to everyone, via the CEAC Regional Vice Presidents or the EAC Chairs, results in a very low response rate. So we thought that creating a specific, voluntary network of employers who have opted-in and committed to responding might enhance our ability to get information quickly. Since this is a voluntary opt-in, you will of course be able to opt-out if you would like to discontinue your participation.
Why should I bother?
Our EDD partners have consistently reiterated their need for feedback from employers. EAC members tend to represent a section of the employer population that is difficult for EDD to both reach out to and get feedback from, and they rely on our partnership to provide this feedback. The same applies to the other groups mentioned above (although we do not have formal partnerships with them). Flash Feedback gives you the opportunity to make your opinions known, and to potentially influence the programs and policies that will impact you, without requiring a lot of your time or effort.
Am I going to be inundated with emails or put on 25 other mailing lists?
NO! We all get way to much email as it is, and we have no intention to make this an additional burden. We expect that we will not be sending out requests more than once every two-three months, probably even less. Also, the information that you provide when signing up will not be used for any purpose other than the Flash Feedback program, and will not be shared with anyone under any circumstances.
