Details: With increasing scrutiny of employer practices and procedures by governmental regulatory agencies, labor unions and plaintiffs’ lawyers, it is critical for employers to create effective and legally compliant handbooks. While handbook policies can positively define your working culture, they also can be the basis for breach of contract claims. In this presentation, Mr. Schachter will identify best practices to create and evaluate your handbooks, and how to minimize your legal exposure. Emphasis will be placed on practical techniques, with sample policies, in critical employment areas to assure legal compliance, improve employee moral and make a positive statement about your workplace. Returning by popular demand, Victor Schachter is a partner at Fenwick & West LLP. He is Chair of the firm’s Employment Practices Group, where he represents employers exclusively in employment law and labor relations, privacy, trade secrets, unfair competition, and related litigation. He is a nationally recognized speaker who has been featured on numerous national and local television radio programs. Advance registration is required by phone or e-mail. You must remit your check by mail. Please see the enclosed instructions and registration form. All registrations and cancellations must be made by Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008. No refunds after Sept. 18, 2008, but substitutions are welcome.
